I NEVER THOUGHT

I never thought of Him when I
Stayed home Sundays to watch football.
I never thought of Him when I
Fell into that money last fall.
I never thought of Him when I
Saw fit to commit adultery.
I never thought of Him when I
Went drinking in bad company.

I never thought of Him when I
Upon brothers inflicted pain.
I never thought of Him when I
Needlessly spoke His name in vain.
I never thought of Him when I
Walked by that bible on the shelf,
I never thought of him, no I
Was only concerned for myself.

I never thought of Him until
I was a man broken in two.
I never thought of Him until
I learned that He could make me new.
I never thought, even then,  He
Could possibly forgive this man.
For I never thought that I could be
Of any worth unto His plan

I never thought of Him and how
My gains were weighed against His loss.
I never thought of Him and how
He must've felt upon that cross.
But, Lord, I'm thinking of you know,
And how you've blessed me just the same.
I wish to serve you, that somehow,
Glory is brought unto your name.

Michael - Thank you for that beautiful poem. I forget about Him sometimes and wonder now that even inspite of me, God saw fit to bless and keep me just the same.  You've helped me today more than you could possibly know.  I THANK YOU!!!

Stunning Michael! You are certainly blessed of Him, to bring glory to His name! We sure all are guilty of this. But hey, everyone falls short of the glory of God, and He just wants us to love Him, naturally on our own. Something that isn't forced, but left for us to find. I always believed he left that longing for love in all of us, we just need to look in the right place to fill it. And that would be up to Him!

I'm sure many will relate to this Michael! I know I sure did!

there is no need.

color="#ff0000" size="2">I think every Christian should have this posted upon their wall to remind us how often we should think of him...This would be a great piece to use to lead people to Christ!
I know I need to read my bible more and pray more than I do! We need to have our minds and hearts only filled with the things of God, Jesus said...what is of the FLESH is FLESH, and what is of the SPIRIT is SPIRIT!
Whatever we feed our minds with is what we become...I want to feed on God and his word, so I can attain the mind of Christ.(To be Christlike)

I Loved your poem! God has gave you this gift, maybe you should pray and ask him how you could use it for him most effectivly...serving him and giving back what he has given unto you!   < !signature-->

I think He wants us to realize as you have Michael that when we don't think of Him we find ourselves in a world of trouble...You got it!

Well as always Michael, you have written another great poem.  This poem says to me that people caught up in there own worldliness chose not to think of God and therefore results in a separation from Him. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him. God gave us a will and freedom of choice.  This is still true today because so many people chose to disobey god and go their own willful way. Anyway...  Great topic.  Thanks for sharing it.

I sit here with tears welling up in my eyes, at the beauty and sincereity in this poem...You are truly a man of many talents sir.  I feel absolutely blessed knowing that someday soon you will be a part of my life, and will shed some of your faith and hope onto me and my children.  I do love your many sides of ability Michael...You can take any subject and blow me away with a breathtaking poem!  I stand in awe here.....Thank you for the reminder also.  Tis a choice indeed...

michael i echo all these comments - your poem is beautiful, sincere, and blows me away too.  It makes me think too of the times i have gone on without thinking of Him, and done things my own way.  Thanks for sharing another one of your works of art.

Thank you all for the replies, of course the real purpose of this poem was to make us all just a little more aware of Him on a daily basis.  Hopefully, that's been achieved.

Dark Angel, of course you may print this out and hang it up...it was written to reach as many people as possible.

Very awesome.  Makes ya stop and think for a second how many times we have forsaken him, and how many times he has forsaken us (NONE)!

I was already printing it out when I read about that being a great idea.  Your confessions are so sincere and related to by each of us in some way.  God bless you for being so open, honest and vulnerable, which ultimately winds up helping so many.  Thank you
