not really a poem just ramblings i wrote in my journal and thought i'd share...

Today is the last day of the year, the decade, this century, this millenium, and the pressure of this day weighs upon me.  Tomorrow marks the first day of a new year, a new decade, a new century, a new millenium, and the pressure of tomorrow weighs upon me.  It feels safe in this place, no more world wars to occur in this century, and i'm almost reluctant to taint the next with what has gone before.  What really got me thinking about this is a realisation of how pessimistic i have become, and how bad it is to speak things over the century, such as "if the 20th century had this many wars, imagine what the 21st will contain."  I realised that God is doing some amazing things, and if i only put my trust in Him and continue to pray, next century doesn't have to live up to what everyone expects.  History is heavy with war, sin, hatred, doubt, brokenness, sorrow, spiritual death and the tears God sobbed over his nations which lay in Satan's grasp.  But history is also ladden with Jesus' birth and victory, and this is the most important of eveything.  I long for a future of peace, holiness, love, confidence, joy, salvation and tears of rejoicing from a God who is pleased with His people.  "Faith is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen." (Hebrews 11:1) Praise God for faith!  Let us continue to pray in faith then for this future to embrace His saving love and live in holiness, in righteousness, in His mercy, daily dying to the old man and carrying our sins to the cross, taking His word to the nations and living our lives for Jesus, keeping our eyes focused on the one who gives us life.  Praise God for ever and ever!  AMEN!!!

Sorry for the preaching-like language, have just been reading Philippians.  Anyway Happy new Years everyone, take care, God bless, love ya all.
Mirjam.

Don't apologize, my friend, for the honest and apt reflections of a heart turned Godward, who has taken time to meditate on God's word, and is able to more clearly discern the strengths and weaknesses within and without.

The only way the new year and century will be better & brighter for humanity, is not by the ticking of a clock, but if we can truly learn from the past, be discerning and sensitive to where we are, in respect to God's will for our lives, and be courageous
walking by Faith and true trust in God to lead us in the Paths of Righteousness.  It seems, that YOU are doing that.  I believe we all need to be doing the same.  Thank you for sharing your Heart-talk--it is a blessing God can use to encourage others unto a closer walk with Him.
   God Bless You,   David

I very much appreciate your sharing your journal with us.  As we hear the news of all the disasters and heartache in the world, we all tend to become depressed.  We really need each other to lift and encourage us.

thanks guys for accepting my ramblings - that was very encouraging.  It was really cool actually last night we spent the last five minutes of the last century and the first few seconds of this century in prayer (cool to think that the first person we talked to this millenium was God), so it's been a great star!
P.S.  Just have to skite a bit too about beating y'all to the new millenium!!!  Here in NZ we saw the first sunrise and it was spectacular - hope your experiences of the new year were just as fantastic!

Heavy fog blanketed Philadelphia, Pa., USA, and seems it will be a very cloudy day here, but that's the way it goes sometimes! I'm glad you enjoyed a spectacular sunrise! I enjoyed your ramblings! Faith in Him is the only thing that can make a difference! Amen!

I rather enjoyed your ramblings.  So much of my own thoughts in it!

Keeping focused is the key.  Ramble anytime, my friend.
