Zacchaeus, he, was a very rich man. Of little stature they say. He climbed a sycamore so he could see Jesus as He passed that way. When he was perched upon a limb Jesus looked up and did say, "Zacchaeus, make haste and come on down, I must abide in your house today." On hearing his voice, he was much suprised, with joy and haste he came to the ground. The people began to murmer and scold, but a new friend Jesus had found. He must have felt what the people thought; to be going with Him was brave. But Zacchaeus was one of the many lost sheep whom Jesus had come to save. Zacchaeus said "I will give half of all I have to the ones who are so poor; I will pay fourfold to any I've cheated, for from Jesus I've gained so much more!" |
