The Son of God was tempted of satan also
That wicked one, schemer of evil deeds low
He tempted him to transform stones into bread
"Man liveth by the holy word of God," Jesus said

Following to a pinnacle of the temple high
Satan asked Jesus to be cast down thereby
"Angels shall charge to your rescue in bands
And quickly bear thee up within their hands"

Jesus again rebuked him with God's word
In which he was established and thoroughly gird
Afterwards, satan led him up to a mountain place
And showed Him all the kingdoms on the earth's face

He said, "All these things I will give unto thee
If you will bow down and worship me."
Neither did Jesus yield unto this sly curve
But said, "The Lord God only shall thou serve"

In a defeated state, satan from him went
And ministering to Jesus, holy angels were sent
Christians can overcome the sharp arrows of Satan sore
Because Jesus conquers evil and reigns forevermore!!

Amen back to you sister. It's so good to
know that if Jesus could resist satan, then
surely with his Holy spirit within us, who
gives us the authority and power to rebuke
the devil, so can we!!! Thanks for the
encouragement to fight on in this daily
battle against temptation - you write
awesome poetry Echo.

Echo this was terrific. Many people don't know that what Satan actually did was quote scripture to Jesus. Not only did he quote it but he twisted it...for instance..in Matt. 4:6 Satan added the words "at any time"...it was originally quoted from Ps.91:11,12

When we stand up to Satan in Jesus' name, he has to flee. That's certainly a comforting promise--since it means that temptation is not unrelenting. Its isn't inevitable that we have to give in. Jesus set the example by
resisting the devil. He showed that it could be done.

Rebecca...So true!

Kenneth...This is the poem I was talking about in my reply to your poem! I dug it up, yours is far better though! You are right though, He did show us that it could be done, and amen for that!

So true, Echo, Jesus is our strength to OVERPOWER Satan and cast down his darts.
Very powerful poem.
