You fix up your house, don't worry about mine
Me and my property are doing just fine
Don't look to see if my roof has a leak
Go up on your own roof, and take a good peek

Don't try to see if my windows are dirty or clean
Yours are dusty with spots, look, see what I mean
My house paint is fading, chipping and peeling away
Look at your own house, now what can you say

My shutters may be falling down from their place
But please don't worry about my house's deface
The railing around my porch may be broken out
Don't look at them, just turn yourself about

My steps may be falling and awaying to the side
But is yours truly standing with pride
Yes the grass is tall and needs to be cut down
But tend to your business, stay off my ground

Neighbor while you're busy trying to fix up my residence
you'd better fix up your own broken down fence
While you're looking at the outside fence
God is working on my inside defects!

So easy it is to find the faults of others, so difficult it is to face & reckon with our own weakness & and failures, and let God help us overcome. Thank you friend--your point is well taken.

I really liked this one - reminded me of that
scripture about the speck in someone else's
eye and the log in your own. Love the way
you used the metaphor of a rundown house to
describe it. Great stuff!!!!

Thank you all, and mirjam, I wrote this after reading the passage about the speck in the eye actually! I also wrote it because I was sick of everyone pointing out all the outside defects of 'my house' a.k.a my body. They all failed to notice what changes were going on inside of me because of the Lord. But I love what changes have been made in me, and if people fail to notice that, that is not my problem because I notice them, and God notices them, and whatever I can do to show others about Jesus thanks to my changes is a blessing in itself. Ok anyways, I am getting carried away here LoL. Thank you all for reading this poem! This forum has been such an extra special blessing to me, and all of you have been an even more blessing! Thank you all!

Well Sweetie! I for one have seen those changes and I think they are wonderful! God does awesome things with people's lives. My dear I am a living example of that! I'm proud of you, the inside of you, all of you!

Great message...we have plenty of our own stuff to take care of without telling someone else...your words speaks so much truth. Our true beauty is always from the inside...Like God...we have not seen Him but we do know the beauty of Him from the inside.

Someone once told me your don't "fix yourself up to come to God...you come to God to get yourself fixed."...He is very good at repairs you know. Wonderful poem, Echo.
