as i stand over you,
watching your life slip away.
feeling such remorse,
that you will leave today.

tears do not come to my eyes,
for i am thankful at best.
to know you that have guided me,
through life's toughest test.

you have worn many hats,
during your time you shared with me.
father, friend, prince of tides,
and teacher, all for free.

sadness fills my heart,
that you leave me on my own.
decisions i will make,
from examples you have shown.

i know a place reserved for you,
to be at God's right hand.
for your love and teachings gratified,
shows me how to be a man.
