Resurrection

A crown of thorns~
adorns a head
bowed only hours before
in prayer

Blood~
trickles from flesh
once immortal
now human

Nails~
impale palms
once clasped in prayer,
laid upon the sick,
and stretched out in welcome
to His flock

Spikes~
pierce feet
that bore Him gracefully
as He spread His teachings

Vinegar~
passes lips
that spoke only truth,
love, peace and joy

Thieves~
hang on either side
of Him
who knew no sin

Death~
claims the body
but not the soul...
bestowing us
with everlasting life

When I think of all He went through in dying on that cross, it makes me ashamed of the little everyday things I find myself whining at. And to think he did it for us...
Wonderful poem, Ruth.

Thank you Ruth, for the vivid pictures of our suffering Savior--we all need to see such & be deeply moved by it.

Very well done Hoot! It reminds me of Psalms 22 when they describe it. Enough to bring tears to your eyes. I also agree with Michael up there. To think of what He endured for us!

I have to agree with michale myself...I know many of times I have felt ashamed of things I do or feel after thinking about what Jesus suffered for us. And many time I have felt like I did not deserve to have Jesus die for me, but I think about it, and if I did not some how deserve it, he wither wouldnt have died, or we would say hung upon the cross to die for everyones sins accept for M.B.'s (being me)...so I know I somehow deserve it and that has kept me going may of times. But this is a great poem, and the expression you gave about what He went through and why is just absolutely wonderul. Thank you for sharing...and listening to me ramble on

Magificent weaving of Christ's Passion into hard-hitting succient images. A very impressive work which leads one back to total dependence on our Savior!
