Purgatorial Incarceration

0 posted 1999-12-22 04:57 PM

It can be hard sometimes, to see the things we have to be thankful for in our lives. And I have found that many of those lie here, in a non-physical place that exists in a digital world of wires and electrons. Here, I have found what life is about... friendship. What more could one ask for than to have friends such as I have found here, at Passions?
So this is my humble tribute to those who have offered to me the hand of friendship and asked nothing in return. There are many others I would wish to write about, but I am afraid that for this, I lack the words.
Thank you Michael, Kamla, Kess, Scott, Gennifer, Sharon, Ruth, Cindy, Marilyn, Becca, Lucie, Amy, Nicole, Jennifer, and all the others whose words will always be with me! Thank you my friends!

Chris

For Friendship

Portrait of freedom,
prison unchained.
Allow this heart.
-soar high-
Fetters begone.
Bitter scars borne,
(not in stoic silence,)
shall someday fade...
-fly far away-
For in friendship found,
though far or near,
is as precious
as water
to a soul
subsumed in drought.

Avian form, her heart.
Symbol of sight
of wisdom
of style.
And styled same as I.
Broken heart unmended
searching surcease,
in echoes of "life,"
rhythms of rhyme
and joy proposed,
though not received.
She: a freely giver,
sends a smile
in daily quips
of hope, humor and love.

Self-styled angel,
enigma wrought
in mystery's burden
-a weighty one to bear-
No price to pay
for friendship's boon
is granted to all.
Free.
Untainted.
Ever charmed to charm
with heart untouched,
yet always touching mine.

Here, sunlight shines
in bantered tease.
Admixed-
with jaunting names
-and queries of concern-
(another silent smile)
Taken the troll,
as analogy more...
-unicorn-
Sight of future promise
granted to patient hearts.
-She full of love-
still able to care from far
the pain of another,
I.

The evil gathers nigh,
dream only in waking walk.
Incarnation.
-Solidity and support-
Unbalanced he in joy,
in sorrow.
Not pictured, felt.
Unseen pillar of strength
and hope,
empathy begotten,
(no price to pay again,)
upon this teetering mind
-of little faith-

Then she the strong,
(not completely closed,)
to understand surprising.
Fend with words sparred,
from silver tongue.
A wondered jest,
intentioned request...
distract my weighted mind.
To ponder past,
portend the future...
possibilities portrayed.
-Perhaps unknown-
the help she brings.
So publically announced;
my thanks,
my smile.

Butterfly abloom,
glistening morning dew...
in hours of no sun.
Blue in flight.
Blue in heart,
fragile wings a-flutter.
Trapped only
by the weight,
of worlds tenfold.
Grace and grief,
vision never pale...
-nor all-seeing abroad-
Rather,
centered somewhere,
balanced-
between hope,
doubt,
and doubt.

And the last,
in irony of life
dost darkness thrive.
To aid, to shine,
true friendship found.
Brotherhood renewed
from lives lived in the past.
To cheer, to share
to love to mourn.
In bitter grief
or silent joy,
-every feeling known-
If ever there were,
-two of I-
then he,
the other I'd be.
For he has shown
that life goes on...
That in the end,
despair,
need not be:
never-ending.

Christopher, I am speechless -- and you know what a rare occasion that is!  I will always feel honored to be included among those you call your friends.

Thank you for this priceless gift.

Truly the most beautiful poem I have lately seen from you - it shows the lifting of your heart.

As mysterious as it is graceful - your hallmark.

Glad you've still got it!

(And you know I want the line by line thing!!!!)

Thankyou for this.

Thank you my friend for including me in such tribute. I can but wonder why, though I will not question it.

Now and forever, my heart hears ~one voice~.

What a wonderful person you truly are.  Thank you for being you Christopher.

May I never be too busy to help another's load,
Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed.

Christopher -
You did a beautiful thing
for beautiful friends.
Through your eyes I recognized
each of them.
Quite a gift ...
and your talent shines.

Do you know what really amazes me, Christopher?  I remember a time when you were ready to quit.  This latest work is far from being your swan song, my friend.  Very nicely put together.
