I Want You in My Night

Soft comes the breeze across the field
It sweeps like silk across my face
And brings with it a longing hunger
To be in that distant place

The dust of moonlight settles fine
Upon the limbs of weathered beech
It fills my heart with life's own yearning
For a dream beyond my reach

I long to be with love's sweet pleasure
Cradled in your welcome nest
And savor love to greatest measure
Soothing all my soul's unrest

Forever I will dream the dream
And I will sing my heart's desire
And cast a wish upon the stars
To bring me to your warming fire

The chill of icy winter breeze
Warms the thoughts of love's delight
I whisper in the moonlight's leisure
How I want you in my night

This is wonderful Elizabeth. . . it would seem that you have tapped into my longing. . . this is exactly how I would say it. . .

Beautiful my friend. . .

Elizabeth,
You have another gem in sight
That seems to fill the very night.
I will treasure this with all the rest.
And answer them with my very best.

A poetry webmaster commented to me recently that not enough poets wrote from the heart.
He obviously has not seen your work (or this site for that matter!)
This is truly lovely Elizabeth.
I wish you happiness.

I agree with Rod, the intensity of the poem comes straight from the poet's sentiment. I enjoyed reading yours, Elizabeth.
