If I could turn back the hands of time,
I would not wish for what wasn't mine.
I'd be thankful for whatever I had.
As it's hard on the streets and very sad.

I used to think my home was small,
Until I had no home at all.
I always wanted designer tags,
But now I'm down to wearing rags.

All dressed up I would prance down the street.
Now I limp in shoes that hurt my feet.
I spent on plastic what I could not afford.
But the pretty things were my reward.

Time caught up and I had to pay the price.
Unable to do so I had to sacrifice.
I watched my world around me crumble.
Now the life I live has made me humble.

Time does indeed catch up - and the price must be paid... Nicely said...

I do so like how you write about the world and people around you, E.

This is another goodie.

Thanks Nan.  You're right about that.  Sometimes I worry about how the young kids today just take things for granted.  And then when they are out on their own it's a totally different story.

Thanks Kamla.  I enjoy watching people and writing whatever comes to mind.

Eloise -

A timely message for sure.
My resolution on the first of this year was
NO-CHARGE-FOR-MARGE

And the very nerve of those
companies ...
they want you to PAY IT BACK !

I wish your message could reach all of those
who get caught up in the ~bombastic plastic~
parade !
Good show !

*And then I had to laugh ...
the banner at the top of this page while
I was posting was for
The VISA Future Card
What ironicism !

Eloise, very beautiful poem. You don't know what you have until it's gone so count your blessings one by one by one.
