your angry words
lashed out, unfairly
punctuated by your open hand
and it wouldn't have been the first time
nor even the next
but ultimately a piece of me died
I buried it painstakingly.
with each new piece
I carved another letter on the gravestone
"in memory of my heart"
and now this day, my eyes look
at your hands clenched in frustration,
your arms hanging weakly at your sides
and I smile with sad satisfaction
for my heart is buried safely
just out of reach.

remember this...nobody has an unbreakable heart

Such incredible sadness written so beautifully!!! That heart is simply resting, dear friend... waiting for someone who will appreciate its beauty and treat it as the treasure it is!

Iloveit...This is a great poem but it sounds like your going through a hard time....i think buring your heart is just a temporary fix...the pain will unevitable come back if you dont let go of it...great job!!
