The Voice of an Angel

Today I heard an angel's voice
A sound to make the heart rejoice
From far away it called to me
Then whispered from across the sea

From half way round the world it came
It beckoned me to call its name
And in that moment in my ear
An angel's singing I did hear

So beautiful a voice it was
And sang just like an angel does
My heart then skipped a solid beat
To hear this soft angelic treat

She spoke to me with such delight
It filled my lonely empty night
It made me laugh, it made me cry
Those precious moments passing by

No hurried step the angel tread
I listened close to all she said
I felt her love, I knew her well
As she cast her charismatic spell

And then I noticed that her words
Were just a bit like singing birds
A different way, a different style
A charming accent all the while

It was our poet, it was she
New Zealand's goddess of poetry
A girl named Kamla in her youth
Speaking words of love and truth

We talked and laughed so very much
With tales of men and love and such
There wasn't time to say it all
So Kamla, darling, won't you call?

Elizabeth

I can only imagine if her voice were half as beautiful as she is a person, you were very blessed. This makes me smile...I love how this site joins people.

Liz, you are not alone in your appreciation of that special Kamla from across the sea.  She has stollen my heart, for sure, and so have you.

Elizabeth, this is so beautiful, "A Goddess of poetry" Kamla is indeed.

Liz, beautiful thoughts so well expressed in lines I feel so likely to agree with them.
Wonderful thing our dearest Kamla, isn't she?

OH LIZ!
You beat me!!

I had to go out, and I was thinking just the same thing.
Your words made my day - and brought joy to a day of otherwise sadness.

Thankyou my dear dear friend - and your poem is in the works (Freeversed of course...!
LOL)

Oh - I am just bouncing here!!!
With a smile wider than those seas...

Wow...

Love you
Kamla.
