She filed and polished her nails.
She shampooed and blow-dried her hair,
Rubbed scented cream into her body,
Flossed her teeth with exquisite care,
Rinsed her mouth with a blue antiseptic,
Bathed her eyes to get out the red,
Then stretched with sensual languor,
Turned off the light and got into bed.
Asleep she remained until morning,
An empty space there at her side.
Floating through fragrant dream waters,
Morpheus' nocturnal bride.
