A babe for us was born of humble birth
In stable crude He came in lowliness
God's special gift for all the sons of earth
His favor shown to man in graciousness.

His coming told by prophets long ago
So fervently they longed to see His day
Messiah, Son of God, sent to bestow
Salvation free to those in error's way.

Hosannas to the King was heaven's song
'Neath Bethlehem's star-sprinkled velvet sky
Still ages past angelic beings long
To comprehend redemption from on high.

Receive His gift, it came at quite a cost
His life He paid to seek and save the lost.

-------------------------------------------
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given
And the government shall be upon His shoulders
And He shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

I wish you and yours a very blessed Christmas!

Denise - you have enriched my Christmas so much by posting this. It is heartwarming to see such a strong Christian presence here on Passions - and even more so to see such work supported and admired by secular poets.
Peaceful co-existence is a wonderful thing to behold!
A lovely poem! Very well done.
And a very Happy Christmas to you also!

It may not be Christmas but that does not mean that we can not appreciate what Jesus has done for us.
