He Calls To Me

He calls to me in haunting words
Revealed in rhythmic poetry
And in the stars so late at night
Placed on display for me to see

He calls to me in open skies
Where clouds are laced in fields of blue
And from the depths of misty dreams
Where once again we are, us two

He calls to me in sunset’s hour
As the day succumbs to night
And in the early morning hour
I hear him with the dawns first light

He calls to me in autumn’s foliage
Donned in hues of brown and red
And every word I now hear spoken
Reminds me of the things he said

He calls to me in distant thunder
When rain drops fall to quench the earth
And in the wail of newborn babies
Crying shortly after birth

He calls to me in oceans waves
Crashing gently on the shore
And in the quest of hidden secrets
Locked behind each waiting door

He calls to me in music notes
In the depth of treble cleft
And even now I hear his voice
Calling like he never left

Oh, he calls to me, I call to him
In hopes to someday find
He and I, once more together
In someplace but my mind

"I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common man with common thoughts and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me , this has always been enough." ~Nicholas Sparks from The Notebook

Ruth: I am positive that more than just a few of us will relate so well to this but I doubt many could have said it as well as you..

Ruth, this is very well done and sad.  The mind can hold such beautiful memories of happy times--so can the future bring.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.

Ruth, this is truly wonderful. It has every ingredient an excellent poem should have and is almost haunting in its melody. Much applause from here.

Hoot,
I sit at home and felt your poem.
It set my mind to fly and roam.
and I thought about the things I said
And the things I read, put mine to bed.
And I think you have enlarged full part,
The little poem that I did start. *L* SY

Oh Ruth,

THis speaks so much more than what is written....It seems to live somewhere in the minds of us all.  For any that has ever loved and lost.....Very beautiful....and nothing but beauty has ever been seen of you in my eyes

Though I'd be repeating what others have said, this poem is beautiful, Ruth.  It has a tinge of sadness and an ample amount of truth.  I'm glad you were inspired!

Ruth you have outdone yourself. This I like very much indeed.

well written....the rythm and verse flow well...the descriptions of nature draw me in. A real longing for one not physically present comes through. It's a keeper....

Although I've only been privelaged to read a few of your poems, this by far is the best one.  You have amazing talent.

Hoot,
I don't know how I missed this poem. It is exquisite.
I was searching for another of your poems and came across this one. But I will find the other because I wanted to bring it up again.
But this one is also worth a second read,
Liz
