Sweet memories are not to hide,
The brightness of their colors shown
When love captures your heart inside.

Embrace the risk, our faith relied.
Exploring was to be our own.
Sweet memories are not to hide.

Mere thoughts of this? It must be cried
High from above and sung intone
When love captures your heart inside!

As love's first kiss for two betide,
Soft fingertips throuh hair of rone.
Sweet memories are not to hide.

Contentment was to be our guide.
Trusting souls not to be alone
When love captures your heart inside.

Combining futures thus implied
As faith and trust through time had grown.
Sweet memories are not to hide
When love captures your heart inside.

.....Ain' lettin' no self-respectin' Villanelle slip to the next page.....NOT!!

With passion born of words alone,
A kindled bond's aforesaid rare.
When love from inside out has grown,

Erotic nuance ne'er outshone.
Clandestine musings freely share,
With passion born of words alone.

Allure endued as pheromone,
In spirit lustful hearts declare
When love from inside out has grown.

With bated breath a bond has sown
Intrinsic trust beyond compare
With passion born of words alone.

True intimacy's surely known.
No greater love ~ No small affair
When love from inside out has grown.

An ecstasy as yet unknown
Enjoins a once unseemly pair
With passion born of words alone,
When love from inside out has grown.

Denise and Marge,
Thank you both, you're always very nice with your replies.

Nan,
Thank you for trying to rescue this!  Your villanelle is beautiful, BTW. Then again, I don't think I've ever seen a poem of yours that wasn't!

Happy Holidays!

How the heck did this beautiful piece slip back to page 4??? Excellent, Sally. Not only is the structure exemplary, the poem says an awful lot. SWEET MEMORIES would be a good title for me. Very nice, as your work always is.

Sally, I agree with you wholeheartedly-memories shouldn't be hidden! It's a wonderful poem too.

Set every threadbare sail-
And give her to the god of storms,
The lightning and the gale!

I've written one of these and they are not easy to pull off, especially not pulling one off as well as you did. Great Job!!

I really enjoyed reading your poem!  The writing of memories has been very hard for me.  I focused primarily on specifics, when sometimes generalities would work better.  Reading your poem made me come to that realization.  Thank you for your beautiful poem and your teaching.
