I shake and shiver
and I want you
I sit and try to work
and instead I want you
I drive in my car
and I want you
this feeling is so real
I want you beyond reason
and believe me I have tried.
One thing after the other,
I try to talk myself out of this desire.
But it is a constant, ever growing,
encroaching on my sanity.
I want to reach out
and snatch you to me
I cannot stand this unattainable need.
My eyes blur, I can't concentrate
on anything but you
I fight the tears,
and still I want you.
and they call this… lust?
such a simple four letter word
for such a powerful feeling,
this word just does not suffice.
it should at least have 10 syllables
and be really hard to say.
maybe,  but I fight the realization,
for I am not ready for this,
but maybe just maybe
it might all fall into place if I
replaced the ust with an ove...
love, another four letter word
but so much more
and it would explain how you
are interwoven into every fiber of my being.
I shake my head in wonder
and confusion,
but even more,
I want you...

remember this...nobody has an unbreakable heart

Sounds like you're wanting someone bad. Perhaps it's not lust at all but another four letter word that starts with L

Great post, I relate to this so well.  There seems to be no word to fully describe it and yet "love" is so final and tends to leave us open for disaster.  You described your feeling well here.  Bravo!

I think Iloveit's in love.  Enjoy it and don't let it slip away.

the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.

You move me again, lovey, with the way you can paint the page with such strong emotions! Lust should have at least 10 syllables......that's for sure! Lust is a wonderful thing. Uncontrolled lust could be the most destructive force in Nature. Lust fires up the motor...love makes the journey possible. Wonderful poem!

(I think they call it "lust" because all the other four-letter words were taken!)

Isn't it the best feeling in the world though loveit? When in the most idiotic moments they pop into our brains. the mind wanders to places inappropriate...lol. I agree with Mike. Lust fires the motor....Enjoy the ride my friend.

Yo ho ho, lil Lovey - your poem was terrific - I could feel your frustration and need... the 10-syllable comment was right on the mark.  I'm certainly glad I no longer have that affect on anybody but lil Lorelei -
