The holiday approaches,
Romance is everywhere.
My silent phone reproaches...
There's no one here to care.
The emptiness envelopes, smothers
I can take no more.
Then there's a rustle and I see
A note beneath my door.
But my reading brought no joy
Instead, I burn with shame.
All the words I'd ached to hear
Addressed to another's name.

Suthern:

This is very sad, dear.  But it is also a very good poem.

Hmmmmm....I wonder why Suthern left off the sn, must be an oversight says Snoops giving his favourite auntie a lick as he snuggles down by her toes cause his mum doesn't want to know...why?..cause he was sick over her toes a few minutes ago..*g*

Sorry Suthern, couldn't resist...I love the poem, speaks for a lot of people..

Oh, Suthern, this is so sad.
I watched the romance flow all around me the last five years, didn't think it would ever change for me but it finally did.  I doubt you will have to wait as long as I did.  HUGS

Sorry it took so long to reply! I had to make a few calls - specifically USA Today! I asked them to run an announcement. Here it is:

Dear World! There is one so kind and sweet
who fears her soulmate she'll not meet
Join me please to banish her plight
and in your window place a light!

All over the world this time of year
lights are lit to dim suthern's fear
a candle here, a tree there
lights are shining everywhere

So when you see a house aglow
remember, suthern, we love you so
who needs a man to warm your night
you've got a world of warm lovelight!

Hey, Suthern girl, you've got a ton of people with you for the holidays. Here we are! We're everywhere! As far as something sliding under your door, that would have to be Toerag or a snake (and what's the diff?)

Suthern...many hugs...I'm right there with you, girlfriend. Holidays have never been easy for me, but this is my first Christmas since the divorce. I think you know my heart, it is so like your own.
Moving poem, my friend.

Sometimes it is better not to know, than to know. For to know can cause immense suffering or joy divine...

You are all dear... and I appreciate you so much!   And PDV... I love your poem!!! LOL. I'd be better off giving up on romance as something not meant to be... but I sure do applaud your efforts on my behalf! *G*

Dear Suthern, Belle, if I may please,
Remind you of the many things,
You mean to each of us you've touched,
When we've been down and you've lifted us.

The sharpened wit in your ripostes,
Your gentle words when needed most,
The offered hand, the soft embrace,
Given freely through cyber space.

We ache for love to find your heart,
To soothe the darkest lonely part.
If Father Christmas can hear our pleas,
"Bring love home to Belle on Christmas eve."

We  love you Belle, and pray for your happiness.
