Why did the Good Lord tell us
To consider the ant and her ways?
What is He trying to tell us
About the message He conveys?

If you begin to consider
The things that an ant will do
Try to apply those principals
In the things of life you pursue

You soon begin to take notice
There's not much that stands in her path
Though obstacles are thrown at her
She's never defeated in wrath

She's always busy and working
Never seems to get delayed
She simply alters her path
But never is she dismayed.

Whatever you lay before her
A stick in her path on the ground
It certainly will not stop her
She simply just turns around

Look at our human frailties
To the ant we can't compare
When something is in our path
We sit in total despair

Do we try to move forward
Or try a different avenue?
We hinder upon our failure
Sit depressed, lonely and blue

We easily get frustrated
When obstacles get in our way
Instead of trying to move them
I think we just need to pray

Surely this wisdom is a gift from above...
Imparted by the Lord to someone called WhtDove...
Beautifully written and very true.

Thank you very kindly Denise!

Femme's Father, thank you so much! I do believe you're right. I was in bed last night and the thought of the ant came to me. And as I opened the bible this morning a few more crossed my mind as well. But those are still a thought! Thanks so much!

Yammean we're supposed to rush in and crash someone's picnic and ruin their good time just because we want what they have? Or gnaw on an innocent ankle just because it's in our path and cause great sores so everyone will know we're not to be messed with? LOL. Sorry, WhtDove... I hate ants! *G* But I like the poem!

Gee, Dove, I study ants every day, and watch thme and follow them and then I make it possible for them to meet their maker. I can tell you for a fact, they are MUCH smarter than we are!

Your poem is excellent and with a good, clear message. Thank you, dovey.

Ants... 10 percent of the earths mass, or so I hear. I'm sure that when we humans all die out or have left this planet for anohter, it will be the ants that become the next great civilization to roam the earth. Great poem here WD... thanks for sharing.

White Dove, reading your poem was like taking
a breath of fresh mountain air. But I don't
want to digress into the subject of air or
art pollution now. Just want you to know how
glad I am whenever I see poetry like this on
the internet. Format was O.K., meter well
taken care of, rhyme a little spotty, one or
two minor typos. You are a moderator and I
am only a new member, so I'm presenting my
critique with some trepidation, but certain
of your understanding.

Andrew I know there are so many of those little buggers that I sure hope they don't take over. hehe...Thank you Andrew!

Willem thank you so much! You need not quiver about critiquing my poetry. I actually am glad that you did! If you could kindly point out my typos, cause I'm not seeing them. I really appreciate your honesty!!  Thanks Willem!

Wht. Dove, don't know where you find time to do all this, but you share a lot of insight.  Did I teach you how to do that?

I saw a special on ants once and the troubles they go through to achieve their goals....up to the points of sacrifice of the few for the sake of the many.  Too much detail to go into right now (does that make me a sluggard?..LOL), but I tell you, You're right on the money with this one, Rebecca.

White Dove,  I apologize profusely! There
were no typos at all in your poem about the
ants. I read through it again and couln't
find any! Must have been looking at someone
else's poem with my old eyes when I counted typos. Forgive me!
