'Twas you that gave me my first taste
of an innocent, real life.
'Twas you that turned to all your haste,
letting go of me, your wife.
Once upon a time, you prospered
in truth and honesty.
Now what you say are only lost words
that are painful and icy.
After your actions have hurt me,
then it is all said and done.
Once a real life you had given me-
now, I attempt a false one.
How do I say that I have failed?
Can't I make this alright?
How do I tell them I've derailed
and still make it through the night?
You were expected to be there
to muffle all my sorrow.
When I am here, you are nowhere,
and we won't talk tomorrow.
If you continue down your path,
your road will part from my own.
You'll leave me, bearing my own wrath
and I will turn into stone.
For those last lingering moments,
you'll kiss my cheek, dig my grave.
We'll go on with no laments-
soon, we'll only have to wave.

"For those last lingering moments,

Truly haunting, Erin, and passionately written...I'm glad you are writing more. I've missed your poetry

Pixie you know that your writing is excellent so I need not comment on that. You know what I think of the inspiration for this piece as well. I will therefore only say I love you, forever and always.< !signature-->

This was a very well written piece. I know all too well where you are writing from. I feel your pain in these words.

Beautiful depth of emotion and expression.

Time makes us wear different faces, doesn't it?  I try to wear my own once a day, if the weather outside is friendly.  "Could it be madness - this?"
