Among My Souvenirs
~Marge Tindal~ 1999

Tucked away and treasured
by this heart of mine,
are souvenirs of you
collected for a long, long time.

The first promise you made,
given in young love's first bloom.
The rose pressed in the Bible,
a verse, within it's petals loom.

A football program,
pages screaming VICTORY !
A dried corsage, lifeless now,
but a memory from you to me.

The class ring you gave
when we first proclaimed to others
the love that we were feeling ...
a love like no other.

The cards, the photographs,
the poems scrawled in haste.
The souvenirs of the love,
that never went to waste.

After all these years
when I shared these keepers with you.
You smiled and shook your head,
then you said ...
'Is it any wonder I love you like I do !'

The best souvenir you ever gave me,
I wear within my heart.
Love freely given ...
I thank you for that part.

You are the glue that keeps us together,
with your thoughtful, loving ways.
Thanks for the memories of loving you.
I will ....... for always.

Amazingly profound message to this piece. It likes me well.
