Looking Out the Back Window

Looking out the Back Window

He stands so still and looks around
And when the moment's right
He scampers up the tree trunk
At the very speed of light!

Then tumbles over backwards
Doing flip flops as he sails
He does it over and over again
Aglow from head to tail

Another squirrel then joins him
Now the two are flipping flops
And continue in this manner
Until one just simply drops

But there is competition here
Besides these furry brothers
Two young rabbits play leap frog
Jumping over one another

But now the party's over
'Cause here comes the neighbor's cat
And puts an end to all the fun
And that is simply that

But a catbird dives and pecks his neck
And the cat runs out of sight
The squirrel then bolts towards that tree
At the very speed of light

squirrels? (I've never seen any but we have birds)...how fun!
I've not done much rhyming and have little appreciation for it but there are certain poets on here, including you, who have forced me to appreciate it more.
