I'm Just a Fragile Meadow Lark

The day so fresh, the air so young
The sun is eyeing morning dew
A glorious song is to be sung
And heard by only scattered few

Why does my heart not sing along
The melody I have within?
Why try to land on willow leaf
And not on oak's more mighty limb?

Before the summer day has passed
And crimson leaf has shown its face
Will I now choose the windy way
To find a winter feeding place?

I'm just a fragile meadow lark
And spread the wing so delicately
Why don't you then, the other lark
Sing sweet melodies to me?

If you would see the lush of feather
Open now the fragile wing
Then you would fly at eagle speed
To touch the warmth and softly sing

Elizabeth,
I would sing to thee
If only I could sing.
I sing like a toad would croak
And that would only be a joke. *L*
Your poem was delicious.

The sweetest song I ever heard
Was not the song of morning bird
Nor, from lofty choirs high
That pelted notes into the sky
Or from loud triumphant bands
Where instruments rung in the stands
No, the sweetest song I ever heard
Came simply in a spoken word
That fell upon my waiting ears
And touched my heart for many years

Thank you for the inspiration as always my dear friend

The song sung here by the meadowlark
fell on birds of feather ...
we will join you in your song
and therefore ... flock together.

No sparrow sings
that we do not hear ...
and therefore we hark,
all join in and sing the song
of the lovely meadowlark.

Bullfrogs croaking, owls hooting,
crickets chirping their praise.
All join now the meadowlark
as in voice we raise.

A song of family you do raise,
A song of joy, a song of praise.
As we do join, melodious tune,
As each and everyone does crune.
The sound does pierce the heavens above,
Our voices raised in not but love.
