A serious poet must carry
A very complete dictionary
To find the right word,
Which he may never have heard,
i.e., one that's not ordinary.

A poet must have a large knack
For thinking good thoughts on his back,
On his belly or side,
At low or high tide,
To distinguish himself from the pack.

A poet's brain must produce,
The way a grapefuit does juice,
Word pictures galore,
Simile. metaphor,
A few of which may be of use.

A poet must patiently nurse
His knack for composing verse,
Though it brings little gain
And may often bring pain,
But poets know not writing's worse.

I agree whole heartedly
With the need to write a verse
The poem mat turn out silly
But the empty page is worse

Write for all you have! Never leave a blank page. Every word is worth something.
Also.... Great rhyme in this!

Dom Mart - Nicely done.

And you've inspired me.
Watch for Poetically Incorrect
to follow closely.
Thank you, my friend.

A poet must speak frippery
Words naught devoid of imagery
Not only toting Dictionary
But also Roget's Thesauri......
