You walk on the stage to thunderous applause
That's all for you
And what you are
When you're not even sure where you are.
It's just another city
A long way from home
With just another crowd
Between you and your rest.
And just like all the other crowds
It screams its adoration,
Giving you its heart
As it demands you soul in return.
So out of your tiredness you again give your best
And leave yourself more vulnerable with each song
As they expose the man you are
And the dreams you dream,
The successes and the failures.
Then at last you'll leave
When your voice is drained
And your mind is exhausted.
But you've left a promise with the begging crowd
That you'll be back
To live your songs again.

This is an old one... but as Christmas approaches, I'd like to dedicate it to a man I've never met but come to admire greatly... He gave me a special gift to pass along... and though it doesn't look as though I'll have the chance to deliver that gift before Christmas, I'll be thinking of both the giver and the recipient... and I'll be grateful the world has both of them. *S*

Thank you all very much for your kind responses! I almost deleted this... now I'm glad I didn't... you certainly started my day with smiles!

Ohme: I do too... very much! Give me the stereo any day over a TV! *G*
RG: You know me too well. LOL. I even titled it the same as Justin's first solo album! *G*
Iloveit: But of course... I'm ALWAYS good. *G* (studiously polishing halo)
Elizabeth Santos: Well, probably not. *G*
dsnyder: Thank you... I enjoyed writing it! (and of course all those concerts! LOL)
Seymour: You are most kind, sir... and I thank you.
Hoot: That means a lot... sometimes I start equating "old" with "not very good"... but then I realize that only applies to me aging! LOL
Balladeer, my friend, that feeling is very mutual... thank you!
Nan: I tried! *G*
JTF: You brat... um... I mean, sweetie! LOL. Likewise, dear froggie! *G*

Suthern: Indeed I do my friend, but friends can often surprise you and you frequently surprise me in the most loving of ways...

Bless

Belle

I can almost see you no the stage.... have a wonderful weekend, and I hope you do meet that person someday. What a wonderful gift it will be - his chance to meet you.

RG: As long as those surprises are pleasant! *G*

Beki: I'd be honored. *S*

LJA: You don't WANT to see me on that stage... and you certainly don't want to hear me sing! LOL.

As for meeting "that person"... I'm not sure which one you mean... inspiration, giver, or intended recipient? *G* I've met one of them... and it was the loveliest experience of my life. *S*
