They knew when they met they were not quite the same They cursed Mother Nature and gave her the blame, But a love burned within The expanse of their skin And they vowed they could win, Overcoming all that .... Though he, yes, he was a dog, you see And she was a fluffy cat. So he tried to learn how to purr and she tried to learn how to bark And she tried to learn how to bury a bone While he tried to see in the dark And their method of mating Was SO devastating Forever creating An unending spat .... - For he, yes, he was a dog, you see Ans she was a fluffy cat. There are rules, it is known, that are written By the movement of Destiny's pen That apply to all puppies and kittens As well as some women and men And, ignoring these laws Bring out dangerous flaws Often fatal because It's an unbending fact........ That an eagle can't swim And a whale can't fly And we can't change our natures, As hard as we try. He was a dog and she was a cat And that's all there is to that. |

Are you saying men and women are as well suited for each other as a dog and cat? LOL. Well done, 'Deer one... it brought back memories of my childhood dog and "his" cat... he hated most cats and would kill them... but slept with Smokey curled up within his paws... thanks for the smiles. |

this is too true. ------------------ "Glory remains unaware of my neglected dwelling where alone I sing my tearful song which has charms only for me." -Charles Brugnot |

What a comparison. True though, just like the difference of night and day. |

Polar opposites have the strongest attraction...even in nature. Are you saying you've dated outside your species? I know I have. Some of them were real cats and I of course a real dog. Bravo, Bal! ------------------ Once I was brilliant, now I no longer shine, but the twinkle in my eye speaks of another time. |

ROFLMBO! Somehow I want to say.."Been there, done that" Good one, thought the style is a departure from your regulat rhythmatic flow. ------------------ From "The Outlaw Josey Wales": "Dyin' ain't much of a livin' boy". and..."A close second is a poor finish, in a fight to the Death". ~GS~ http://www.geocities.com/montcogunslinger/HomePage.html [This message has been edited by Gunslinger (edited 12-01-1999).] |

I liked this a lot. It made me smile. And I thought about the time my cat took in 3 stray puppies and took care of them as if they were her own. ------------------ If time cannot heal your pain, you can always cry on my shoulder. ~Jenn~ |

Ayayayai! This one is funny, true, wise and beautiful, all at the same time. My beloved "one and only ever" and I almost laughed our heads off reading it, forgetting for a few precious moments our own doggie/kitty feuds. Thank you for this treat! Willem |

Balladeer, You have the heart of a dog And the mind of a cat. And that's all there is to that. Loved the poem. |

Bal: What can I say....some Dogs are real bitches and some bitches are real Dogs, likewise some Fluffy cats are really cute and some will scratch your eyes out...all depends on the treatment, now, give me a saucer of milk and I'll purr all night long, show me the catflap though and I'll weave myself in and out of your legs all night long.. Made me smile but I shan't tell why HUSG ------------------ Yesterday is but today's memory and tomorrow is today's dream... |
