Ya' Just Gotta Read This One
~Marge Tindal~ 1999

Did you ever stop to think?
Did you ever think it through?
We're all poets of the 20th Century
until this year is through.

I find it hard to grasp,
or harder yet to believe,
we're poets of the 20th Century,
until this year takes leave.

Oh my God, go fathom!
We all will surely be,
poets of two centuries,
in all our revelry.

In one breath I am humbled,
in another I am awed.
I take this honor proudly
and share my thanks with God.

Joyfully sharing our talent
with others here and yet to come ...
sadly one thing is pretty clear,
we won't be here for 3001.

But, hey!
They will remember,
those who follow our lead,
we were poets of note
for two centuries.

*Okay, guys and gals ... typo !
Breathe ! LOL !
*Come on, how many of you checked your pulse?
Breathe ! LOL!
*It's later than you think !

excellent but i dont understand the 2001 lin =)

and if you mean 2100 dont be so sure =)
if you knew what i did about modern day genetics human life expectancy could/(and could being a philisophical issue rather than a scientific one because its almost possible), increase the life expectancy of humans to 107, not bad for us youngins =)

Dear Marge
Marge, my dear, where have you been
The air in here is getting thin
For the twentieth century we're in now
The twenty first we'll also plow
According to you, as you have told
I'll soon be a century old
(well, century and a half)
(plus)
(just a little)

Please!
Elizabeth

I've never been called a 19th century poet before
I'm insulted!
Good night

Marge, I was going to point out that we are getting a little long in the tooth if we are 19th Century poets. But alas, I see astute Elizabeth, followed by a pack already set the record straight so, I'll merely say, Great job, and as Jim always says, "Write On!"

I may not even live to 2000? It may be nearly 3000 before I can write a poem?....And if Balladeer keeps being so mean to me, I can assure you he won't be a poet of two centuries!!! LOL

Now, Toe
this is a fact.
You have not seen
my trapeze act.

I'm glad you like
the poems,
honest, I really am ...
but swinging through the air,
hanging by my knees ...
causes me to lose my senses
with the greatest of ease !

Come and see the show,
then if you don't like ...
we'll refund your ticket
with double your money back !
