Gliding in this sea of verses
Majestically she swims
Words have failed the silent swan
Giving in to muse’s whims

The laureate within her soul
Silenced by another’s voice
Slept within the spirit dark
Reticence taken by choice

Drifting away from harbor shore
Into waters dark and deep
Her fluid voice quieted now
Her poetic verses she will keep

The crowd watches the muted swan
From their seats upon the shore
Wondering if she’ll sing to them
Ever or nevermore

I beg your humble forgiveness for posting this tonight...I normally do not post multiple poems in one evening, but I've been in a dry spell lately - like the mute swan I speak of here - and tonight, I was inspired to write five different poems...they are not all in open, so I'm safe there. It seems the writers block has been unclogged..must be my new sinus medication! Anyway..thanks.
