Looming in the corner
Is the one who tells it all.
The sound of midnight coming
As it echoes down the hall.

Trying to break the curfew
And sneaking in the house.
Careful not to wake anyone.
Being quiet as a mouse.

But the sound of striking metal
Says she's thirty minutes late.
Next Friday night she'll be home alone.
Grounded without a date.

Great, Eloise! It made me smile, although I'm sure it did not have that affect on the girl in the poem.

Nail to the mast her holy flag,
Set every threadbare sail-
And give her to the god of storms,
The lightning and the gale!

Thanks for the comments. If I remember correctly she (my daughter) was not a happy camper the following weekend. But the next time she went out garage was opening as the clock struck 12! Kind of reminded me of Cinderella.
