The flowers he placed were beautiful,
the lighting of the room was just right.
He wanted everything to be perfect,
for everyone that night.
She truly did look beautiful,
wearing her favorite dress.
And her make-up never looked lovelier,
He knew that he’d been blessed.
He truly loved her with all his heart.
And this everyone knew;
from her bright and wonderful smile,
to her eyes, sparkling and blue.
He loved the way she was forgetful,
And the silly way that she danced.
And when she told him she loved him,
He was always entranced.
They had dated forever,
before getting married last year.
And since that wonderful day,
his life had been filled with such cheer.
They had started talking
about having a little bundle of joy,
would she have mommy’s eyes? Daddy’s chin?
Would they someday have a girl or a boy?
But as he looked at her now,
a tear rolling down his cheek.
He wished he could trade places with her,
if only for one single week.
But he knows as everyone is arriving,
to say their last good-byes.
That his angel won’t be coming back,
"Lord, why did she have to die?"
He looked down at her once more,
and whispered, "I love you",
as they closed the lid to the casket,
her body no longer to view.
The funeral was tearful and dreary,
Then everyone started to go.
But as he stood there looking down at her grave,
more and more tears started to flow.
She has been the light of his life,
but now that light had grown dim.
And starting his life all over,
had not begun to occur to him.
Tomorrow would be the first day,
of the rest of this young man’s life;
But no one would ever be able to replace,
the memories of his dear sweet wife.

Tragic yet beautiful....I think I'll go home and kiss my wife now.

Thank you everyone that has commented on my poetry. I appreciate it so much. I just want the chance to take something and possibly cause someone to look at it in an entirely different view. If I succeed in that, I am truly happy.
