The Billionaire

I know a man who ventured here
From far across the sea
In search of a life of freedom
And opportunity

He came to this great country
With nothing to his name
And built a mighty empire
Of endless wealth and fame

So rich is he that everybody
Envies his success
Watching him and recognizing
What they don't possess

His treasure is spread all
Across this fruitful land
From California to the east coast
He has riches in his hands

Three sons who all have character
Worth more than any gold
And a daughter much more precious
Than any jewel you could behold

The eldest son has always had
Unmatched integrity
The second son is full
Of love and generosity

The third son has inner strength
Convictions and beliefs
His daughter in her youth
Has proven courage beyond defeat

All these traits were handed down
From a father to his young
A product of his suffering
And all that he had done

And all this wealth he gave his children
In the form of love
As he built into their characters
The attributes above

Three grandsons are now positioned
To be the next in line
To inherit traits their grandfather
Will surely leave behind

Three generations of wealth
That simply can't be ranked
Much too great a treasure
To be held in any bank

I like this - it's very genuine and a great testament to those who use wealth wisely. K

Elizabeth, wealth is often held by those with smaller bank accounts.

Elizabeth,
Prolific, that I would declare.
Terrific, that I know is there.
And specific is the marvels bed,
Glancing out the water shed.

Beautiful poem Elizabeth... and nice message

Of all the "wealths" in life there are
the greatest ones are "those" by far
The ones that have no "worldly" measures
but bring to us the greatest pleasures
The "richest" of the "rich" can see
the greatest "wealths" are always free.

Nice to hear about someone who does not let wealth and success go to their head. Liked it Elizabeth!

Thank you all for the kind remarks
I've savored each and every one
But we're not rich by far in funds
The Billionaire was just for fun
When I first read this verse to them
The laughter poured at the very notion
But as I continued with the rhyme
The tears and hugs flowed like an ocean
