There Will Come Soft Rains
~Marge Tindal~ 1999

Footsteps silent
in the
new-grown grasses,
bending softly
under
my feet.
I walk gingerly
across the
great divide
between
you
and me.

Footprints
left
on the path
I take
that
brings me
closer
to you.

Tenderly
I surrender
whatever vestige
of pride
I wore.

There will
come soft rains
springing
the grasses
to life
again.

What a lovely way to put it! I get a feeling of "the quiet after the storm" BIG in this one Eagerly awaiting, but not rushing or too anxious for, the soft rains of cleansing and new life. Lovely.

ThUnDeRkYsS - Yes, calm after the approaching storm is pretty accurate.
Actually, I got the title cruising a page
on the Civil War ... and just thought it
sound melodic ... and let it simmer ...

VanDana~
How nice .... it is also one of my favorites that simply wrote itself after I saw the words on a page I was researching concerning the Civil War in the United States ...
it just sang to me.
It is still one of my favorites.
Thank you for dredging it up.

Thanks for popping this one up, Dixie~
I always liked the easy way the words tiptoed across my heart~
I think I'm gonna re-work it into my more modern day *prissyfied* formatting~
