Erskine Place

You might ask
what is Erskine Place?
To me it was just scenery
along a distant train ride.
To others it's a place
to call home.
A home where strangers
travel past
many times a day.
A home where the sound
of a train is as familiar
as cars driving
down the road.
What is Erskine Place?
A street sign
that caught my eye.

This is excellent, Dreamer! I get that feeling when looking at maps....a small dot to me and home to millions to others. Or a house, nondescript to me, but so special to the family. Gee, I could think for hours about what you so aptly pointed out with this excellent piece.

Dreamer, There are a lot of things we miss because we are not paying attention. Too bad that is our loss. You saw it I missed it!

Lost Dreamer -How I liked this one.
Reminded me of a place I used to avoid ...
it was called PRIVATE ROAD ... I thought it was the private entrance to someone's home.
The more I passed it ... the more drawn to it I was. One day I ventured down it ... turns out it was a memorial place nestled among the stately oaks ... a gentleman had constructed it to be a private writing/thinking place for people to find a quiet moment to reflect. Once you got there it was plain to see the message he had inscribed on a plaque ...
'What took you so long? Now think your PRIVATE thoughts.'
I now travel 60 miles to return to it every now and again.

everything i've read by you lately tells me you've been working on developing a more succinct writing style!

nice work, LD.

reminded me of a sign that might say, "if you lived on erskine place, you'd be home now"

Those impressions that we garner along the journey of life are just as essential as all the 'big' things we take notice of - you captured that very effectively. K

Thank you all so very much, I never expected such praise from this poem that I wrote as I was riding on the train trying to pass time. I'm glad you all enjoyed it, and thanks again your all wonderful.

I love this. I live down the road from Erskine College in South Carolina. The title caught my eye!
