Like Irish tay

She laid her rhyme upon my heart
That touched in me the tender part.
And I roamed in thought throughout the day
Thinking on what to write or say.

I tried and fished for some acclaim,
A verse that would do, for her the same.
And though I tried and tried each time
I could not rhyme like she could rhyme.

I tried in every way and manner,
To verse a soft and simple banner.
To tell her how much I was moved
By the beautiful words she had used.

And though I tried the words to weave
They stayed my mouth and would not cleave
All that came in a heart felt way is
Her rhymes were as sweet as my Irish tay.

And though I thought that said it all
I never did, get her to call.

Sy

A simple verse of Irish tay
As clear as water, clear as day
A Seymour twist then at the end
Leaves me in the dark again

There is no dark for you my friend
It seemed to me a funny end.
For you the essence of the poem
Is all above the end I've sown.
You are to me so dear so sweet
I thought that was a well lit street.

Sy,
OK Now I too can laugh
For nothing's writ between the line
I'm proud to be the subject of
What is to me a special rhyme
And thank you for the lovely words
You touch my heart and humble me
But I must tell you that I am
Ecstatic with your poetry
Your words are under your command
Just like an artists gentle hand

Nan,
I think your answer from my quill
Has made me laugh, I'm laughing still.
One of these days I'll get my net
Catch you and make you a pet.
Elizabeth,
It's true I am not Irish born
But I love the humor they sporn.
There humor is so outrageous,
It strikes me down as most courageous.

Seymour -
I like your Irish Tay.
Hope ya' share a cup with me.
For Irish is a part
of this little heart.

Elizabeth, please join us.
A cup o' tea will make you smile.
We'll proclaim verse after verse,
with a 'little spot o' tay' after awhile.

Nan, I just love it.
The ringing telephone,
calling Seymour to the table ...
in this IRISH home !

Marge
I hope you read my note to you
At end of poem Muted Ear
For you are true an eagle swift
With telepathic sense so clear
And then comes Nan who boldly puts
Everything in front of you
Boy, how I wish I lived
Right next door to both of you!

Hey, I'm Irish! Can I have some of that tea? I love Irish tea! And everything else Irish! I agree with you Seymour, some are blessed with such a fine humor! I can't get enough of it! One of the many things I miss about my Dad. Such a dry sense of humor, had me laughing inside all the time! By the way, great poem!
