On Call

I have a busy beeper
that I carry 'round with me.
And when it starts to sing
I always know who it will be.
Ooop, the darn thing just went off
they're paging me again.
And when I call them on the phone
they'll ask me to come in.
No time to put the groceries back
must leave the grocery cart.
The manager is watching me.
Now watch me break his heart.
I'm not his favorite customer
he doesn't like my action.
Seems it takes a dozen times
to finish one transaction.

Thanks, Balladeer. Only once did they beep again and say go back home, LOL

It was Denise!

Isis, I retired Oct 1 this year. I was Nuclear Medicine/Ultraound Technologist in Colorado. When Emergency room needed me it could be a matter of life or death and I had 20 minutes to get there to perform tests that help make the diagnosis. Left a lot of grocery carts after telling the manager there was frozen foods and milk in basket. He understood. Could have been one of his relatives I was going in to see.

Ohme, understandably a serious situation, but humorously put! When my oldest daughter broke her humorous bone, they called the surgeon and he happened to be in the check out line in the store. Didn't have time to put anything away. hehe...
When your needed your needed. Thanks for sharing this.

WhtDove, I have been in the shower, wet from head to toe. No time to dry my hair. Just dress and go. Visitors to Emergency room often wonder why the employees look so bedraggeled. Most of the time it is because 15 to 20 minutes ago, we were living our life not working!

Rainbow Girl, I wonder does that mean I am in my second childhood or is it possible that I never grew up?, LOL I'm relieved to find you didn't think I was an old goat!
And (((((((Hugs))))))) to you too.

OhMe - This is so cute.
And for the times you made the dash - thanks a million. I think back to the many rushes this mom had to the emergency room ... so glad the other ~beepers~ were there for us.

No Problem Marge. When I turned in my beeper, someone else gladly took it. There is no void.

Oh geez Ohme. The shower and all. Well, as many times as we've been in the ER this year alone I have to give you a great BIG THANK YOU! I guess we never really think about what you guys give up to do your job for us!
THanks so much for running out wet headed!!!
