They hang from your mouth
like droplets of saliva -
grotesque, compelling.
I am drawn to the words,
wipe them dripping from your chin.

(shove them back in again)

And in the silence I watch you
heavy with the weight of
wordlessness
draw a picture instead.
It's charcoal's call me
to smudge your sky until it fits
your
you
more comfortably.

You shake your head
"it's all wrong" (though you smile)
and i rub it out
erase
you
(and i).
