For Stacie... With Love

The break of dawn invades my pane
The morning sun's my bane.
One eye peeks out
The other shouts
"To sleep - We both must feign"

Just as I doze, I feel a shake ~
"Oh, Mommy, Mommy, I'm awake!"
I hear her call my name
Too early for this game,
For I must sleep for goodNess sake.

Upon my bed she jumps with glee,
For after all, she's only three;
But this Mom needs more rest
Before the next day's test.
"Mommy, Mommy, play with me!"

I pull the covers overhead ~
I settle deeper in my bed,
And say, "I'm sorry, Dear...
There is no Mommy here".
I close my weary eyes instead.

When I peek out, her face I see,
And sounding grown she says to me,
"Would you look at yourself?....
You ARE Mommy!"
I had to grin from ear to ear
And face today with newfound cheer.

Here's Cassandra later in the day - After I try to teach her some vocabulary...

Adorable Nan. I don't have children but I can imagine their being a constant source of smiles. Maybe someday! This was a wonderful poem.

Nan,
I say to you I am a man.
That wish he were a child of yours
But since there is no way I can.
You'll have to settle my applause.
The poem is exquisite.

What a living doll! Love this poem, Nan.... I remember it from before and loved it the first time I read it, but the photojournalism really makes it even more special!

LOL @ Balladeer's comment there!
Nan, so this is the little wild one eh? She's just adorable. Quite puttin that child to sleep with those "boring" lessons.
heheh, just kidding of course.

Thank you everyone - She really is a cutie - Of course I'm objective...yep!
And I figure she'll develop her vocabulary through osmosis if nothing else...
