The Inheritance

My child I leave you not a cent
inherited from me.
I leave a greater wealth that lasts
through out eternity.
I pray that wisdom fills your mind
that you may always know
which way to turn and what to do
wherever you may go.
May you have a gift of sight
that always lights your way
and have no fear of darkness
as you live from day to day.
I pray the courage in your soul
will outweigh any strife.
And may it be forever so
in each day of your life.
If God will bless you with strong will
then may you take a stand
defending what you know is right
and fear not any hand.
May you learn that you can love
if this you want to do.
Then may you find that love is kind
and always blesses you.
Love and faith and loyalty
I'd have you cherish so.
Then when you face eternity
in God's hands may you go.
This is all that I can do.
But I could do no less.
I pray that God watch over you
and grant you happiness.

Thanks, Nan, Denise. I think the value is far greater than anything I could leave them.

Ohme, this is superb!! You could leave them nothing finer in the world than these mere words. Go into an art programme, make it up, print it out and frame it, this is simple wonderful

OhMe - This is a wonderful legacy to leave.
Worth more than silver or gold ... and less likely to be tarnished by life.
What a beautiful poem ... from a beautiful mother's heart.

Marge, these words were certainly from the heart.
WhtDove, I did. I posted one not long ago.
Not sure if it fits the needs of the forum but looked like it would, so I did. Thanks for the invitation!

There is nothing I can add to the above.

Just beyond the stars, my spirit waits for you
Above the horizon, where the light beams thru
As I wait and wonder, how long it might be
I bask in the light of the love that set me free

Looking at the colours, enchanted by the shine
I thank God above, he put your heart in mine

I miss you Mother and I am so glad to find you here

Work like money doesn't matter, love like you've never been hurt, dance like nobody's watching...
