On Wooden Bench

Along the verdant Scottish hill
I wondered well at nature's thrill
For nature called its song to me
As echoing from up the sea

I turned and turned directions all
To see the font of nature's call
And followed then the beauteous sound
O'er tapered hill and velvet ground

For surely 'twas a voice I heard
The music of a feathered bird
Who called my name in lyric grand
And lured me to his arbor stand

I turning then the crest of hill
Beheld the source of hallowed trill
'Twas not a bird, but church of stone
With choral song and organ drone

And it was true the grandest hymn
That pierced the soul from down within
My heart could sore contain the bliss
And poured out tears of happiness

But strange the music echoed still
And spelled my name on facing hill
Then lured was I to humbly stand
Before the face of God's own hand

I opened slow the solid door
Through which the strains so gently poured
And entered in the shadows dim
Of painted glass and wooden trim

No chorus grand nor organ cry
No person there, just God and I
But in my ear harmonious ring
A gentle soft melodic sing

For there within the shadows deep
Of prismed air and ancient steep
A wondrous sight in weathered light
The secret source of God's delight

A silhouette in dimming dim
With love that poured from depth of him
On wooden bench in deep immerse
A lonely poet writing verse

The feathered bird of endless trill
Was not a bird, but feathered quill
The feathered quill was artist brush
And painted songs of rubied thrush

On wooden bench in dimming dim
He beckoned me to sit with him
And sang me songs of lyric rhyme
Until the end of timeless time

Elizabeth

Elizabeth

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a shear delight,
The power of the inner might.
Quells despair of lay affair
With the peace that it declares.

Specifically I wish to chine
The madness of a single line.
It was born by an awkward joke
Bad humor some jesting smoke.

But smoke covers a speck of truth
That should be taken with vermouth.
I would please you with what I can
For I am a simple old man.

And please forgive me while you rest
I only meant to do my best.
I pray you do and quick get well
And we'll match poems in show and tell.

And as I said to you before,
My soul to you, an open door.

Your poem is exquisite.

Sy,

Oh! Captor of the rose in cage
The spirit simply has no age
Nor does the heart nor does the mind
Have dimension, space or time
To say that you are four times prime
Is relevant to just your mind
For mathematics plays no part
In the soul and in the heart
For I am younger, as you see
I'm in my prime - will always be

Now getting back to poetry
In all of my naivete
I fail to know the awkward joke
You seem to feel you must revoke
Perhaps it's true, I may be blind
Or failed to read between the line
For when I read, I'm in a daze
Sailing o'er poetic phrase
And I'm the one with apology
For that silly epopee
But I'm glad you liked my Scottish rhyme
'Twas you that sang til endless time

Elizabeth,
This poem is really an epopee
And will go down in history.
And time will question who he be
And only my heart will know 'twas me.
Sweet dreams, sleep well.
