I Didn't Know ...
~Marge Tindal~ 1999

Is that my name?
Is that my picture?
I see my life in the glowing obit.
Why didn't they tell me
while I was living it?

Why are these people crying?
Why they are saying
the nicest things
to me now
that I'm well
past dying.

I didn't mean to leave them guilt,
for they did not know my pain.
If I had it to repeat
I'd not do it again.

For now that I'm gone
they've convinced me
that they really did,
love me for
just who I was,
not for the things
I kept hid.

Too late.
I'm gone.
Do not let
my pain
live on.

Cry your tears,
but please know,
if I had it to do
all over again
I'd try
so hard
not to.

Marge...wonderfully spoken. We can never show someone how much we care about them too soon, only too late. Thank you my friend for your wise words and thank you for caring enough about this to post it.
Hugs
Ruth

Hoot/Ruth - Needs to be said ... thanks for the encouragement.
Denise - Thanks friend. Now let's hope it gets read and makes a difference to someone who needs it most.

Marge, the one thing I love about your poetry - is that everything I read has such a strong uplifting message behind it - that's what is awesome.....I don't believe I've read one piece yet, that didn't scream out a positive thought !! (as far as getting others to think!) That's probably the best gift of writing, is when you can share something that gets others to act or think in a more productive way....Thank you for sharing, I will certainly read more of your work from now on!

PoetFemmeFatale - Talk about 'uplifting'... Wow ! Thanks so much for the super compliment.
Writing from my heart is all that I do.
Knowing that it touches someone's life in a positive way is pleasing to me.
Glad you like ... it will be nice to know you're reading and 'thinking'.
