Not Too Different
(the poet to the painter)

As the painter uses brushes
to paint.
I use my pens and pencils to
write.

As the painter paints with
color.
I paint with words of
imagery.

As the painter doesn't use
words.
I don't use shapes and
pictures.

But don't think we're not
alike.
Because in reality, we're not
too different.

We both compose art, in a
way.
And it comes from our heart.

Our images can both be seen.
Just in their different ways.

The painter can paint what I
write.
I can write what the painter
paints.

So, you see, the painter and
me,
Are not too different after
all.

This is just how a friend and I were describing poetry the other day, Lynn. And this poem says it all - very well done.

Lynn,
I believe without either, the world would suffer greatly!

Well, that is basically how I describe poetry to the few friends that I can seriously discuss my art with. (Your words were much more eloquent) Nice work.

Thanks Sally...I don't think anyone has ever refered to any of my words as eloquent before. Thanks.
