The challenge was to use the first two sentances that I have here.

The last thing I expected
Was the first thing that I saw
When I looked from my window
And I stood there just in awe

I saw three little babies
There was no mother ‘round
They jumped and climbed and tumbled
Really playful on the ground.

Three furry little critters
With their tiny painted masks
Their three ringed little tails
As they scrounged around for snacks

Such curious lil’ critters
But so lonely on their own
With their momma not around
Would they make it to be grown?

Two of them, they scampered up
To the top of the tree’s limbs
But one of them just sat there
Wasn’t running on a whim

So slowly I approached him
While extending out my hand
I thought I might get bitten
But it went how I had planned

Think he was as scared as me
He didn’t move a muscle
I put my hand out towards him
And gave a nervous chuckle

He sat there still and quiet
As my hand pet his rough fur
And as I gently stroked him
I wondered, where was his mother?

I watched these little babies
As they stayed around and played
Long as you stood back and watched
The lil’ critters weren’t afraid

For many days I watched them
Then one day they disappeared
Don't know if they just ran off
Or were roadkill, that I feared

Three tiny little raccoons
And they filled my days with joy
Wonder where it is they went
With no mother to convoy

'Tis a truly pleasant scene your well-spun verse has wrought.

Very good Becca.

But if those little critters
Wandered too far way down south
They're on some redneck's stove tonight
Filling a hungry mouth!

Sorry, Dovie... couldn't resist! *G* I enjoyed this very much! *S*

Hey, Dove, I think I saw them down at that Chinese restaurant as Blue Plate specials, you know, the one that put out that new cookbook "50 ways to wok your dog".

KIdding, Dove! Just kidding! I'm sure they're all right.

Delightful poem, little dove.

Thanks Echo! I prefer to think they left my yard to go to yours. Instead of Suthern and Balladeer's thoughts! LOL...

Thank you Marge. I challenged her with the first line, then she challenged me with the second, and we just combined the two together! LOL
