Resonant sympathy
filling me
with truly melancholic sadness
holds comfortable familiarity.

Death's own peace
lays claim to me
through fulfillment
breaking bonds
the yoke of loneliness
embitters
me with.

A single spark
within
a morass of murk and night
shines beacon
steering me from the hate
that once redeemed
and set me free
to embrace
self-deceit.

Empathy flays feelings
just come
to new-made awareness
with confusion
made so by loss
of another's self
so like my own
I needs must lose myself
in sealing the rift
between her inner soul
and outer being.

One voice
soothes
one murderous soul
tempering kindness
in compassion's crucible
made molten
by the heat of genocidal fury,
that voice a leash
willingly worn
by a savage Beast
once so close
to regaining control.

Even sleeping
the Beast feeds
lulled to peace
by the knowing of her
stirred
to redoubled fury
when her muse is denied
understanding and release.

Hollow soul bleeds
in synchronicity
with burdens lightened
by shared reality
togetherness blankets
in womb-like security
wounds
caused by loneliness
and parasitic despair.

In her, I am content.

Brother, I must say that the recent change in your form to free verse pleases me immensely. You show quite the talent for expressing through free verse, and I love it!

When you toss off the formula/form poetry, you are set free to put real emotion into your work. This is excellent. One of the best I've read from you.
