He carved them on the tablets made of stone
A glimpse of holiness - His measure shown
To teach us that there isn't anyone
Whose righteous in His sight except the Son.

Perfection, nothing less, the Law demands
A burden and a curse are its commands
To keep them all but fail in only one
You break the whole and prove yourself undone.

He came to us a light unto the earth
To tell us of God's love and of our worth
His life fulfilled the Law, He broke not one
Lamb slain for all, the curse has been undone.

So blind, receive your sight and sing His praise
He paid your debt, be thankful all your days
Lift grateful voices high to heaven's throne
The Law's now in your heart not carved in stone.

'By the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin. But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe.' Romans 3:20-22

A relief indeed - and well expressed! (Can you imagine abiding by Leviticus or Deutoronomy every single day? - gives me shivers just to think about it!)

Denise,
All these things that you carry in your heart are so evident in your poetry. I can't wait to meet the person who wrote this poem.

I hope you submit this to the main site, Denise - It's an astounding piece of work, deserving of a Passionate page for posterity - (and perfect iambic pentameter too)

Amen. Denise you did a terrific job on this. His promise is His word. There is no greater gift that he has given us. Real love is not forced and this is what He has done by giving us the CHOICE to seek Him within our own hearts...and not in stone.
