I am but a simple man,
...my pleasures they are few,
Rather than filet mignon,
...I'd just as soon have stew.

I've never seen the opera,
...I've never been to Rome,
My favorite destination,
...at end of day is home.

Cummings I don't understand,
...I'd just as soon read Frost,
Without the Reader's Digest,
...I fear that I'd be lost.

I hate a dinner party,
...I don't sip fine bordeaux's,
Flannel shirt and blue jeans,
...That's my favorite clothes.

A simple life is all I need,
...four children and a wife,
To heck with high society,
...I'll take my perfect life.

Wonderful! If there were more around like you, the world would be a better place. Never let anyone tell you that your life is not the 'best' way to live....you do have a perfect life...I wish you hundreds of years more just like it! I loved this poem Mike! I like to think of your poetry as 'down to earth'...no fancy words..just pure, simple, heartwarming thoughts...thank you for sharing them with us.

What a way to start the day... reading such gracious comments from my three favorite poetresses. I stayed up Wednesday night to watch the meteor shower and wished upon a falling star. In return I was graced with three shining comments. Thank you muchly.
