Friendship's Quilt
~Marge Tindal~ 1999

I have spread before me
a quilt of many colors, true.
Somewhere in the quilt of friendship
I've included a square for you.

The pieces have come to me
over many, many years.
Each one very special,
some stained in tears.

Alone they withstood
the test of friendships in time.
Now made lovelier by joining
with other friendships of mine.

As I look upon this quilt
I see ...
friends young and old
and those just coming to be.

I hope that all who are joined
will, with me, agree ...
you are the fabric of love
that now covers me.

Without each of you
my life would not be complete.
What you have shared in friendship
is safely stored with me.

I gaze at the quilt and remember
each one of you ...
the young, the old
and the new.

What a wonderful patchwork quilt
you have helped me keep.
I wrap your friendships around me
as I nestle down to sleep.

A visit to Marge's house is almost like a dream
She will show you wondrous things that you have never seen
A myriad of colors and inspiration from above
A million tiny stitches sewn carefully with love

Your eyes cannot consume the beauty inherent in the quilt
Your mind cannot imagine the hours of toil til it was done
Your heart cannot contain the passion the quilter felt inside
To produce a work of art in which such heart-felt love abides

Nice work of art, Marge
Elizabeth
