Dear friends,
This passionate forum has been such a learning experience for me. I really don't know much about poetry, just started writing verses in July. But in reading your poetry, I feel the essence of what poetry is, how it changes an experience or thought or a dream into a song that captures the soul. And so I got up this morning and wrote this little poem as a thank you to all of you for your enlightenment. Sorry I couldn't meantion all of you by name, but you are all in the poem.
Elizabeth

OH, PASSIONATE POET!

Oh, Passionate poet! Write a verse to soothe my weary heart!
With unimagined whims from Robert's diary of life
And let Sy's lyrical wand enhance it with melody so sweet
That we will then forget the words of hatred and of srife

And let Denise pour forth the words too beauteous for our eyes
Sprinkle it with love from Marge's overflowing heart
Let the cowboy ad an earthiness and texture to the song
And let Ruth's unequaled passion be a vibrant part

Let Michael scroll romantic notions on the leaf
May Rebecca force our tears to fall upon the page
Let the gunslinger's magnificence take my breath away
Let Rainbow's moonlit drops of rain fall upon my face

May Angel add sweet angelic voices to the strain
And Balladeer's imagination weave the story to be told
And all the other passionate poets with pen in hand
Add a touch of wisdom from the bottom of their souls

Then I will take this poetry and read it to the stars
And the stars will show to mankind the truth that it has sought
And Shakespeare will look in envy at the exquisiteness of verse
And God will smile at the perfection of the beauty He has wrought

Thank you and Good Bye,
Elizabeth

Thank you all for your kind words. Yes, I am leaving because I have things to do. It takes me time to post poems and I need that time for family right now. But I will be reading your poetry

Elizabeth, to say you don't know much about poetry is like Hugh Hefner saying he doesn't know much about bunnies! You ARE poetry, Elizabeth. I have read with pure joy everything you have written. Please don't stop..and come back to us when you can. God bless.

Elizabeth....you have granted us immortality. What a fine gift you bestow upon us and yourself with this beautiful tribute to the poet's yearning. I think WE are the ones who should have tears in our eyes. Thank you Dear Poetess.

Harrisburg could work! But it would have to be on the weekend for me, as I can't get off from work during the week. (darn it) I think it's about a 2 hour drive from Philadelphia? Not sure, maybe 2 1/2. Sounds like a plan in the making!

Elizabeth,
I can only ask your forgivness for not posting on this poem sooner. You are at the top of my list for poem quality. You rate up there with Balladeer, Michael, Poet deVine and a few others. And your mentioning me in your poem brought a lump to my throat. Bless you my dear and stay well. PS. Your poem is Excellent.

Sy,
Oh, Passionate Poet!, write a verse to soothe my weary heart
Whose lyric transcends genius and whose music transcends art
And I will swim in ecstasy at the pleasure you impart

The verse will grasp the essence of my being from afar
And when my spirit's quiet, I will don my sweet guitar
Then, dear Passionate Poet, I will sing it to a star

Ms. Santos, I too hate to see ya leave...but I do understand. Your poetry is superb, and you should ponder doing more. I too am leaving this wonderful site very soon, as I too need to pursue other things with my lowly life....I do hope, for all the other fine poet's benefit here, that you continue to post.....you will be missed....Happy Holidays!

Mr. Toerag,

I'm sorry that you're leaving, too: I'd hoped that I would read
Your daily dose of humor that my spirit sorely needs
You've made this forum so much fun, and every moment worth
An unimagined treasure, and all the gold on earth
My laughter will be quieted, my smile much more subdued
My heart will miss your antics, and my baffled spirit, rued

Although I've read only a small amount by your hand, I believe it unfair for you to say you know little of this craft. Perhaps, like me, you know little of the technical side of writing poetry, but it seems to me that you have the best tool one can have... a good heart. I understand the time it takes, but please do not deprive yourself, your family or your friends for too long. May your journey be a pleasant one.

Justbleu,
Where in the world did this come from?
I look back now at songs I've sung
I've left the forum and never left
And in the process tears have wept
But at the time my life seemed doomed
By strange dedease so much consumed
But I'm still here and still alive
And acting like I'm twenty-five!
Glad that you enjoyed the poem
And all the love within this forum
Liz
