Star-frost lit nights and Christmas lights
Enchanted scenes un-folding
Across years or distance all the same
Safely stored in holding

One may wish for many things
Not all will ring of truth
Save close that sense of wonder
Granted in your youth

Reindeer flights of fancy
Eiderdown of trust
Enveloped from things chancy
Thrice blessed and more so just

In time-less grains of measure
Now I make this plea
Grant thee a child's treasure
Spread 'round your Christmas tree

Very nice Moose.
You've captured the spirit of christmas well though your verse.

You are the first Dr. Moose. Thankyou for reminding us of the joy of the season. The eyes of a child of christmas Morn. Well done Sir.

Well done Dr. Moose! But what is first?
Compared to this wondrous trend you set
For it is now our poetic quest
To match the value of this present.

Thanks for sharing this perfect gift!

Severn and Marilyn,
Thanks for the read and comments . I was trying to capture something lost. Through this I glimpsed , for a moment , what some take for granted .The sentiment is genuine ,
I do wish this for all. Happy Holidays...

Andrew my friend ,
I have one more
'twas saved for later date
These kind responses
I can't ignore
So none will have to wait

"To You All"

Mistletoe bound with a bow
Elfin spirits cannot bind
Recounting those who's afterglow
Remembrance brings to mind

Yule-time gifts the spirit brings
Chase chill from harried hearts
Heaven's Host the choir sings
Re-appears from time apart

Icicles quick-silver streams
Shine softly with new light
This added as one lost in dreams
Makes moments seem
Alluring in the night

Simple in their honesty
Are the feelings thus evoked
Nursed from embers silently
Draped in scented smoke

Holiday trims from dreams are spilt
Angels make their presence known
Pieces from a patch-work quilt
Perhaps too seldom shown

Yesterday's potential lost
New one's is at hand
Every possibility's cost
Weighed in times of sand

Yearn for true compassion
Each in our own way
And a milestone we may fashion
Reached at last this day

Thanks , d. & Severn
Comments much appreciated, I'm just a kid at heart , and thankfully , once in awhile can still see things that way.

Dr. Moose! This second offering is a step beyond! Top shelf material and then some. The poem itself had such a smooth flow and wonderful imagery that I never thought to look for that "A" thinggie. As my grandma would say "Merry Chris-Moose to you too! And many good years ahead."
