THE CRIMSON ROSE

One day a woman, old and frail, held a rose of crimson red
She gently handed me the lovely flower and softly said
If you look very deep into the center of a rose
It will tell you secrets that no other flower knows

I found it strange, but somehow felt compelled by unknown power
And gazed among the velvet petals into the crimson flower
It spoke to me these lines of lovely poetry so composed
To tell me of the grand and glorious beauty of a rose

"A rose is the greatest gift that you can ever give
It's the greatest gift that you'll receive as long as you shall live
A rose is splendid and magnificent, its fragrance is sublime
It's the most revered flower in the history of mankind"

"A rose adorns the home with unmatched loveliness and grace
It turns a weary, saddened heart into a smiling face
The beauty of a rose is like a comforting caress
It quickly fills the room with loving warmth and happiness"

"Its spendor is unequaled: no gold can match its worth
It's the most elegant and most beloved flower on the earth
It radiates in silent words, simple and yet grand
The messages of love in subtle ways we understand"

"Though its bloom is delicate, a fragile work of art
Its powerful touch can change your life and warm your troubled heart
And when the petals all have fallen, it will not depart
For the visions of its beauty live forever in your heart"

So ended the lovely, captivating poetry of the rose
Its message to the entire world, I wanted to disclose
I quickly ran to find my daughter with her little child
As I placed the rose into her hand, her face lit with a smile

Look very deeply, darling, into the center of the rose
And it will tell you secrets that no other flower knows
It will speak to you in poetry, an unknown rhyme, and yet
Its words will be a message that you never will forget

When the rose's verse has ended, your heart will be in awe
Knowing that the rose had not described a rose at all
The meaning of its verse was not a flower from the start
For a rose, my dear, is the wondrous love within a mother's heart

Look deep into the rose and marvel at its poetry
If you look deep within your heart, a crimson rose you'll see
Remember that a rose is the greatest gift you'll ever give
Its the greatest gift that you'll receive as long as you shall live

A Rose Is Not Just A Rose Anymore
~Marge Tindal~ 1999

Thank you for the rose.
It caught me by surprise.
A rose is just a rose ...
'til seen by a friend's eyes.

A rose is not
just a rose anymore.
It's a reminder of what
our friendship has in store.

This friend appreciates you,
more than I can say.
Thank you, my friend ...
for sending roses my way.

*Well, I'd like to think you sent me a lovely Crimson Rose.

Elizabeth,
I am impressed, excellent.

A rose is a rose and everything you say,
But if you do not treat it tender,
The thorns will make you pay.

Elizabeth this is so lovely. My husband and I own a flower shop and we see flowers give love constantly, especially the rose. It speaks a heart when the heart has no words.

Got back from the ER - couldn't breathe - not serious, asthma attack - had to rest - then opened Passions to find your lovely remarks, thank you all. Yes, Marge, I sent this rose to you because you have so much love in your heart and it is so evident in your poetry.
