A poem to my friend Laurie, whose 25 year old son, Michael, is battling cancer. Prayers are welcomed

For Laurie:

MICHAEL

So noble a demeanor when facing the unknown
That all look on in envy at the courage he has shown
Loftier yet his posture when the bitter truth was told
The young man puts us all to shame as his character unfolds

And knowing that the step on which he's about to tread
To most of us would be a time of anguish and of dread
He rises still yet higher in stature and in grace
Which is humbling to everyone who looks upon his face

Inherited from parents many attributes he's shown
But the lonely footsteps in his path are his to walk alone
No brighter star has ever shown in all the splendid skies
He humbles even loved ones as they look into his eyes

A heartbreaking situation. My prayers are with him. You have done a wonderful job in expressing this, Elizabeth. Very well done.

Nearly speechless at the beauty you have wrote here. You have brought to life with words that which many can not imagine...or express. Thank you for the sharing

A beautiful tribute to a young man's battle! He will be in my prayers as will his family..it's so hard to watch this happening and it is amazing that the person who is ill is usually the strongest..I think God gives them a special strength! Thank you for a lovely poem.

You have expressed the dignity and strength of a son with quiet strength and wisdom. I know they will learn from each other through this time.

First....Elizabeth, Welcome!

Second...your friends are fortunate to have you there with them. They need caring so much now. You do or else you would not have written this. I look forward to more postings.. from other emotions you want to share.

Tomorrow I will tell Laurie of all your prayers. Thank You so much.Incidently, Michael is planning a wilderness hike over some mountain in Canada next spring, and I have a feeling he will do it - He puts me to shame.
